Guest Profile

Walter Moller

As a Navy veteran, German immigrant, father of two grown sons, with four granddaughters, this Grandpa brings a diverse and eclectic background of over six decades of life experience and various unique trainings, teachings and traditions.

Having grown up in the forested natural world of Upstate New York as an only child, he's come to appreciate the value of healthy relationships with one’s own self and the world around them.  This, coupled with sixteen years of experience with the Boy Scouts, much of it with advanced adult leader training, has fostered a deep connection to the Natural World and a joy of working with young men, mentoring and encouraging them to blossom into healthy, mature adults to help make our world a better place to be.  This is why he does what he does.

Along the way, he's experienced many personal initiatory milestones, some of which include, several Vision Quests, being a Sundancer, as well as studying with several Alternative Medicine Practitioners of multiple disciplines to include physical, mental, emotional and spiritual parts of who we are.  He's done his own personal initiation into the world of healthy Men within Mankind Project beginning in June of 2011 and have supported them as a Declared Elder within the organization ever since.

For the past five years, he's supported a Rites of Passage organization for Boys-to-Men called “Journeymen” on Vashon Island as a member of their Elder’s Council and have participated with their past three annual Quests for Rites of Passage by encouraging a deeper relationship of Initiates to themselves and Nature around them as they make their own personal Drums and Drumsticks prior to their solo experiences.  Since my move to the Olympic Peninsula three years ago, he's also begun participating and supporting another Rite of Passage Group for Boys-to-Men called Bright Wheels organization in Port Townsend as well.

Professionally, he has a background in working for two decades with the marine industries as a Shipyard Rigger and then, as a result of an injury at work, a career change of two more decades later as a Healthcare Practitioner of Alternative Medicine.  This had a most profound impact of deepening Spirituality by demanding much of his inner work be done in order to be in attendance of assistance and support of another person’s healing process.  Most recently, he's begun a new career as an Author writing his first book about: Men’s Health.

Personally, his hobbies include storytelling, drawing & painting, woodworking, gardening and hiking. He lives in Quilcene with my wife, Rochelle.
