Guest Profile

Erica Fielder

Erica Fielder spent nine years as a resident naturalist at Jug Handle Farm and Nature Center on California's north coast. There, she designed programs to educate school groups and adults about the Mendocino Coast's natural world. Simultaneously, the California State Coastal Conservancy invited Erica to create interpretive displays for wetland habitats along California's 1,100-mile coastline. Using science, writing, and artistic skills, she launched her decades-long career as an interpretive display designer for parks and museums.

Erica has a B.A. in art, a minor in the natural sciences, and a Master of Fine Arts degree. She is co-author of Ecology for City Kids and City Safaris, a Sierra Club guide to teaching ecology in cities.
