Dr. Michael Ventrice & Daniel Krook
Dr. Michael Ventrice is a Meteorological Scientist and Software Engineer at The Weather Company, an IBM Business. The Weather Company helps millions of consumers and businesses make informed decisions based on weather data. Dr. Ventrice is the lead sub-seasonal (Week 3-5) forecaster at the company. He received his Ph.D. at the University at Albany, focused in tropical meteorology and is considered an expert in global circulation and tropical storms. Due to the nature of his background, Dr. Ventrice is often quoted in national and local media outlets and periodically appears on TV and weather.com during major weather events. Dr. Ventrice is a member of the American Meteorological Society (AMS) and was the 2018 Chair of the AMS Board for Private Sector Meteorologists.
Daniel Krook is the Chief Technology Officer for Call for Code, a five-year initiative that inspires developers to create sustainable open source software solutions to the world's most pressing problems and Code and Response, the IBM program that puts the resulting ideas -- as well as those from other initiatives -- into action to ensure they have a lasting impact in the communities where they are needed most.
