Bettina Stern

Bettina Stern is a graduate of Middlebury College. She grew up in Manhattan and has been lucky enough to dine adventurously all her life. Having worked for a number of summers during college as a chef in the Hamptons food shop, the Barefoot Contessa, Bettina was inspired to share her passion for food and cooking with friends and family. After 7 years as a magazine editor Cond Nast and Hearst Publications in NY, she moved to DC with her husband and began freelance writing and editing. She also planted her first kitchen garden.

Bettina is the mother of three sons 18, 15 and 11 and is also proud to be on the board of the Africa Schoolhouse, a 501c3 charitable and educational organization committed to building sustainable school communities for children in under served areas in Africa. Seeds, tools and information can make all the difference in a community with limited resources and ASH is committed to designing sustainable kitchen gardens for both the teachers housing and the students.
